Sizing and Fit

All the hats are designed to fit comfortably and provide ear coverage for maximum warmth in cold, wet or windy weather. We field test them all in the interminably dank climate of Seattle, occasionally traveling to Mt. Rainer for snow tests. And hot toddies afterward.

To ensure the proper fit, measure your head with a tape measure, running it around the base of your skull, across the center of your ears, to the middle of your forehead. The tape should be snug but not tight to your skull. See the photo below as an example of proper measuring technique.

If you are purchasing the hat as a gift and are not able to measure the head in question, here’s a handy guide to average head size:

X-small (20”): Toddlers from about 18 months to 4 years

Small (21”): Children or petite adults

Medium (22”): Most teens and adults

Large (23”): Large adults and people with “big hair”

Specialty sizes can be custom made, please email us for more information.
